STEM Summer Day Camp

This July, learn the basics of computer science and game development with our expert instructors!

When?

July 14 to July 18. Computer Science is 8am to 12pm, and game development is 1pm-5pm. If you register for both, lunch is included from 12pm to 1pm!

Computer Science

Required Materials

Each student needs to come to class with a personal laptop, charger, and a positive attitude! All other materials (including snacks and water) will be provided!

Description

This program is designed to be a fun introduction to the world of computation and programming. Students will learn the basics of computer science through a project-based curriculum that is designed to be both fun and engaging! Each student will come home with a series of programs that they built themself, as well as the knowledge to prepare them for more computer science classes in the future!


The Instructor

Robert has a bachelor’s in computer science with minors in computer engineering and mathematics from the University of Alaska Anchorage! He’s been tutoring and instructing for over 5 years in a variety of STEM subjects, and is excited to come full circle with this new computer science program!

Game Development

Description

Is your student into video games? Then we have the perfect choice for you! Throughout this one-week camp, students will learn the basics of how video games are constructed from design, to animation, to logic. By the end of the course, students will have created a playable capstone project, and leave with enough knowledge to continue building on their own!

The Instructor

Bal joins us from the UK where he received a bachelor’s in Media Production, a masters in screenwriting, and a masters of business administration! Bal is excited to bring his experience as both a certified teacher and professional game designer to the classroom and get the next generation of Alaskan students curious about the world of game development!

Receive Highschool Credit

Homeschool students may be able to receive school credit for the extracurricular classes they take. It varies from class-to-class and program-to-program, but we are continuously working to add more programs and allow more students to take advantage of this opportunity.
