College Admissions Counseling Terms of Service

(Last modified 08/05/2025)

These College Admissions Counseling Terms of Service (the "Agreement") govern the enrollment and participation of students in the College Admissions Counseling program (the "Service") offered by Frontier Tutoring LLC (the "Company"). By enrolling in the Service, the Customer agrees to the terms set forth below.

1. Definitions

  • “Agreement” refers to these College Admissions Counseling Terms of Service, as amended.

  • “Customer” shall be defined to include the parent, guardian, or responsible party for Service.

  • “Student” shall be defined as the person receiving college admissions consulting services (the Student may or may not also be the Customer).

  • “Company” shall be defined as Frontier Tutoring LLC, an Alaska limited liability company.

  • “Service” shall be defined as the provision of college admissions counseling or consulting services to the Student.

  • “Service Commencement Date” refers to the first day that the Company begins providing College Admissions Counseling services to the Student, including but not limited to conducting research, reviewing documents, preparing materials, or engaging in any billable activity on behalf of the Student, regardless of whether a live session has taken place.

  • Other terms may be defined in the following sections.

2. Price of, and Payment for, Service

The Customer shall be charged a package price for each Student who participates in the Service. The pricing and content of the selected package will be communicated to the Customer by the Company prior to the Service Commencement Date.

The full package price is due in advance unless the Customer elects to pay using a Company-approved payment plan, in which case the payment plan must be implemented before the Service Commencement Date.

Service packages are measured in Service Hours, not solely in face-to-face time. Time spent by the Company outside of sessions (such as reviewing documents, preparing materials, or conducting research) may be deducted from the Student’s remaining Service Hours balance.

3. Effective Date of Termination

The Effective Date of Termination is the earliest of the following dates:

(a) The date upon which all package service content has been exhausted (i.e. all hours have been used),

(b) The date upon which the Customer advises the Company that no further services are required (e.g., because the student has reached a desired outcome or has otherwise concluded the college admissions process), or

(c) The June 1 immediately following the student’s senior year of high school (where the school year is defined as August through May)

Upon the Effective Date of Termination, no further service shall be due to the Student under the existing package or packages purchased, regardless of whether any service content (i.e. package hours) remains unused. Additionally, no refunds (or extinguishments of payment liability) shall be processed for any service content that is unused as of the Effective Date of Termination.

4. Payment Liability Policy

Minimum Deduction: The minimum amount of Service Hours deducted per session is one (1) hour unless otherwise authorized by the Company.

Cancelled, Missed, and Late Sessions: Except in the case of extenuating circumstances (e.g., illness or emergency), the Customer must notify the Company at least 24 hours in advance if a Student will miss a scheduled session. If notice is not provided, the originally scheduled session length will be deducted from the Student’s available Service Hours. If the Student arrives late, the full originally scheduled session length will still be deducted.

Non-Session Work: Time spent by the Counselor on behalf of the Student outside of sessions—such as reviewing drafts, preparing application materials, or researching schools—is considered part of the Service and will be deducted from the Student’s Service Hours.

Refunds: All purchases are nonrefundable unless the Company has demonstrably and materially failed to uphold its responsibilities. In such cases, the Company may offer a prorated refund for unused hours remaining as of the date of such failure.

5. Limitation of Liability; College Admissions Consulting Session Policies

Where the Student is under the age of legal majority in the State of Alaska, the Customer agrees to promptly pick up, or otherwise provide and assume responsibility for transportation of, the Student at the end of each scheduled college admissions consulting session. The Customer acknowledges that the Company shall not be responsible for any damage, loss, or bodily harm that occurs during, before, or after college admissions consulting meetings. The Company shall not be responsible for supervising the Student outside of the times of any face-to-face sessions.

6. Student and Counselor Responsibilities

(a) Company Responsibilities

The College Admissions Counseling Staff assigned to the Student is responsible for:

  • Helping the Student explore a variety of educational options aligned with their individual needs and goals;

  • Assisting the Student in building a balanced and well-researched college list;

  • Advising on standardized testing strategy (whether and when to test, and how to interpret results, if applicable);

  • Supporting the Student in completing college applications;

  • Offering guidance on financial aid and scholarship applications, where applicable;

  • Providing essay theme suggestions and revision feedback, while never writing essays on the Student’s behalf;

  • Performing background research, reviewing materials, and preparing guidance outside of live sessions, as needed;

  • Supporting the Student in preparing for the transition from high school to college; and

  • Adhering to the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Statement of Principles of Good Practice.

(b) Student Responsibilities

The Student agrees to:

  • Proactively reach out to their assigned College Admissions Counseling Specialist as questions arise or to schedule meetings.

  • Make reasonable efforts to follow the Counselor's recommendations.

  • Complete all assigned work, including applications, essays, and forms, in a timely fashion.

  • Remain aware of and meet all deadlines related to testing, applications, and school-based documentation (including transcripts and letters of recommendation).

  • Attend all scheduled sessions punctually and provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.

  • Complete assigned “to-do” items by the agreed-upon deadlines.

  • Write all essays and personal statements independently.

  • Personally submit their own college and scholarship applications.

  • Check their email at least once per week for program communications.

  • Maintain and update their online college planning account, if one is provided.

  • Acknowledge that the Company makes no guarantee of admission to any college or university, or award of financial aid or scholarships. All admissions and aid decisions are made solely by the relevant institutions.

7. Decision Offers, College Acceptances, and Financial Aid Awards

The Customer acknowledges that neither the Company nor its representatives can make any guarantee of acceptance at any college or university or any award of financial aid or scholarship funding. While best efforts will be employed to empower the Student and Customer with the college application and financial aid process, neither Frontier Tutoring nor its representatives can be held responsible for the colleges to which the Student is granted or denied admission or the financial aid or scholarship funding the Student is or is not awarded. Admission and financial aid or scholarship award decisions are made solely by college admissions officers at each institution.

8. Changes to Service

The Company reserves the right to change the college admissions consulting professional assigned to work with the Student at any time at its sole discretion. In the event no college admissions consulting professional is available to work with the Student and the Student still requires Services, the Company shall refund a prorated amount of the package price to account for the unusable remaining hours.

9. Changes to Agreement

The Company reserves the right to modify these terms at any time, with written notice to the Customer. Should the Customer object to any new terms, they may withdraw their Student from the program and will remain liable only for the proportional cost of services already delivered.

10. Agreement Applicability

If the service selected at the time of enrollment is the Initial 1-Hour Consultation, these terms apply to both that consultation and any subsequently purchased Service, unless a separate enrollment form and agreement are executed.

11. Governing Law & Incorporation by Reference

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alaska. These College Admissions Counseling Terms of Service are incorporated by reference into the Frontier Tutoring Service Agreement and do not stand alone as a separate agreement. In the event of a conflict, the general Service Agreement shall prevail unless explicitly stated otherwise.

For the avoidance of doubt, the definition of Service Commencement Date in this document shall apply specifically to College Admissions Counseling services and shall supersede the definition provided in the Frontier Tutoring Service Agreement for this service.
