Do I have to find my own Buddy?

Yes.  If you don't have anyone im mind, we recommend speaking with your teacher or counselor and explaining that you are looking for another student in the same class who would like to receive tutoring with you at a discount.  If you want to start tutoring right away while you're in the process of identifying a Buddy, enroll in a one-on-one tutoring program.  


What are the requirements for students wishing to use Buddy Pass?

Both students must be enrolled in the same class (e.g., Algebra II). Although it is helpful if the students are enrolled in the same section of the class (or in separate sections with the same teacher), it is not required.  If you can't identify another student who meets the requirements for Buddy Pass, enroll in a one-on-one tutoring program.

 

How do we enroll in Buddy Pass tutoring?

Each parent must complete a separate enrollment form.  When you complete the enrollment form, you will be asked to indicate the name of the other student/parent.  You will also be asked to identify which parent will be the primary scheduling contact (we will correspond with this designated parent to schedule the first session).  We will begin processing your enrollment once both parties have submitted the enrollment form.

 

How do we know which plan we should sign up for?

Complete your first session for just $35 each and we will recommend a meeting frequency at the end of the first session based on both students' baseline levels of performance, grades or other goals, and timeframe. We can then recommend the plan—hourly or subscription—that makes the most sense for both students.

 

How does a subscription work?

We know that tutoring typically results in the best outcomes when the student commits to a consistent weekly meeting schedule—whether once per week, twice per week, or more, depending on the student’s needs. As a result, the most effective way to use a subscription is to set up a standing once or twice weekly session. With a subscription plan, your student will be guaranteed the ability to schedule up to 1 or 2 hours per week of tutoring, depending on the plan you choose—and you’ll benefit from big savings relative to paying hourly. If needed, you can also request to schedule more hours than are included in the subscription.

 

When does my subscription start? When does it renew?

Your subscription will activate and be billed on the date of the first session conducted under the subscription plan.  It will renew automatically every 4 weeks until you cancel it.

 

Can we each start on the hourly plan and then upgrade to subscriptions after a few sessions?

Absolutely. We want you both to be confident that Frontier Tutoring is the right fit for your student before you purchase a subscription.

 

Do my Buddy and I have to pick the same plan?

We highly recommend that you pick the same plan.  However, if one Buddy wishes to schedule additional one-on-one sessions beyond the Buddy Pass sessions, he or she is welcome to do so and will pay the one-on-one rate.

 

Can we use our Buddy Pass subscription for multiple subjects?

While you may use a one-on-one subscription to receive tutoring in multiple subjects, a Buddy Pass subscription may be used for only one subject.

 

What happens if my Buddy and I have a subscription and you cannot accommodate a session that we have requested to schedule at least 3 days in advance?

In the unlikely event we are unable to accommodate your request for a session made at least 3 days in advance, we will extend your subscription's term (i.e. delay its renewal date) and add an hour to your subscription for your student to use anytime before your subscription renews.

 

What happens if my Buddy and I cannot schedule sessions during a given week (e.g., because we are out of town)?

Provided you each advise us at least 7 days in advance of the week you will need to miss, we can suspend your subscription (i.e. "put it on pause") during the time you will be absent.  For example, a 7 day suspension would provide your student with 7 additional days in which to use his or her hours, and it would additionally delay your renewal date by the same amount of time.

 

What if my subscription is about to be renewed when there are fewer than 4 weeks remaining in the semester?

Provided you each advise us prior to the end of your current subscription period, we can suspend your subscription (i.e. "put it on pause") during the time you will be absent.  For example, a 14 day suspension during winter break would provide your student with 14 additional days in which to use his or her hours, and it would additionally delay your renewal date by the same amount of time.

 

What happens if my Buddy and I request a last minute session (fewer than 3 days in advance)?

Although we cannot guarantee the ability to fulfill last minute session requests, if you are on a subscription plan, we will prioritize your request and do our best to accommodate it. If you are on an hourly plan, we will process your request after all scheduling requests by subscription holders have been fulfilled.

 

What if I want to cancel a scheduled session?

You and your Buddy may jointly cancel sessions without penalty as long as you do so at least 24 hours in advance. If you cancel a session without sufficient notice, you may be charged for the session (for subscription holders, the length of the scheduled session may be deducted from your subscription hours).

 

What happens if I attend a scheduled Buddy Pass session and my Buddy does not attend?

If your Buddy provided you and us with at least 24 hours notice and you decide to attend the session anyway, you will be charged the one-on-one rate for the session (if you are on a Buddy Pass subscription, the session length will be deducted from your Buddy Pass subscription, and you will be charged the difference between your Buddy Pass rate and the hourly one-on-one rate). 

 

If your Buddy provided you and us with less than 24 hours notice, you can still attend session.  Both you and your Buddy will be charged for the session at the Buddy Pass rate (or, if you and your Buddy are on a Buddy Pass subscription, the session length will be deducted from both subscriptions).

 

What if I'm on a Buddy Pass subscription and I want to schedule a one-on-one session without my Buddy?

If you have one or more hours available in your Buddy Pass subscription for the week, you may schedule a session without your Buddy.  The session length will be deducted from your Buddy Pass subscription, and you will also be charged the difference between your Buddy Pass rate and the hourly one-on-one rate.

 

What if I want to change or cancel my subscription?

You may upgrade your subscription (e.g., from 1 hour per week to 2 hours per week) at any time and the change will be applied upon renewal. You may cancel the renewal of your subscription at any time by contacting us prior to your subscription renewal date. Generally, we are unable to issue refunds for a subscription period you have already purchased.
